In Daniel we have visions of four beasts which represent the four Kingdoms which will come upon the earth from the time God's glory left the house of Israel (Ezekiel 10:16-18 & 11:23) to its promised return following the Second Coming (Ezekiel 44:4).
The Introduction the beasts can be found in Daniel 7:1-3, and are in no way connected to the 4 beasts in Revelation.
1. In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
2. Daniel spoke and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
3. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
The sea spoken of is not literally the sea but the peoples and nations. The beasts are world powers or Kingdoms coming up through nations which effect the world in general.
